Man kills 7-year-old brother because “God told him to do something to prove that he is not God” saying that he did something “for the greater good” before calling 911 himself

Last week, a 27-year-old man was arrested and is now facing second-degree murder charges for killing his young brother in an incident that took place in his parents’ house for no apparent reason. The authorities later took the suspect to the hospital for evaluation.

The suspect, identified as Dalal B. I., is accused of strangling his 7-year-old brother before he made several 911 calls and admitting that he did something “for the greater good.”. In the series of bizarre 911 phone calls following the incident, Dalal was confused, seemed lost, and was unable to clearly explain to the dispatcher what he did prior to calling them, but said that he “hurt someone”. According to the probable cause affidavit, Dalal told the dispatcher that he did something because “God told him to do something to prove that he is not God”.

Shortly after the first responders arrived at the house located in Minn., they took Dalal to the hospital for evaluation while other crews continued to search the house. Before leaving the scene, the suspect told the responding officers that he was afraid his mother might kill him for what he did. Crews found two unharmed children sleeping in their room, but they also found the 7-year-old brother who was not breathing. The child was immediately transferred to the hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, despite all the doctors’ efforts to save him.

Officials said the boy showed small, dot-like bruises around his eyes, often an indication of fatal suffocation, according to medical literature.

The medical examiner’s autopsy found similar small bruises on the boy’s eye, face, and back. Although the medical examiner couldn’t definitively say that the victim had life-threatening injuries or illnesses, they did note that these kinds of bruises are commonly found in strangulation cases, and nothing in the autopsy ruled out strangulation. During the investigation, however, police were able to find enough evidence to charge the suspect with killing his brother with his own hands.

Court documents show that Dalal has a criminal history. According to the available public records, in 2014, Dalal was sentenced to 103 months in a state correctional facility after pleading guilty on charges of first-degree assault and aggravated robbery.

According to a family relative who opened a GoFundMe page for the victim, everyone who knew him adored the boy, and his passing deeply affected his family and friends. The boy was a caring and gentle person who loved making people laugh. He enjoyed family time and playing Roblox with his brothers and sisters. He was always cheerful, spreading happiness wherever he went.
