Trans woman becomes infuriated after seeing her partner walk out of her ex’s room; expresses her jealousy by saying something and shooting her multiple times

A person out on bond for prior theft and firearm offenses allegedly opened fire at a hotel, targeting a previous intimate partner found with another individual.

23-year-old Ruby O. was taken into custody in relation to charges of attempted murder. This arrest is connected to a shooting incident that occurred on August 4, 2023, at the Knights Inn, Kissimmee.

Authorities detailed, “On August 4, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for service at the hotel.” Upon their arrival, they found a victim who had sustained multiple gunshot injuries. The individual was promptly transported to a hospital for emergency care.

An affidavit in support of Ruby’s arrest, which described her as “transient”, highlight that the victim, after the shooting, required immediate surgical intervention. Later, the victim expressed a keen intent to press charges against Ruby, fearing Ruby’s presence at the hospital.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim was at the Knights Inn visiting an ex-girlfriend before the shooting.

“When the victim walks out of her ex’s room, she was confronted by the defendant,” documents said. “Ruby and [the victim] previously engaged in a se-ual encounter and upon seeing [the victim] exit [the other woman’s] room she became infuriated.”

That’s when the defendant allegedly pulled out a gun.

“Ruby then brandished a firearm and pointed it at [the victim], threatening her, stating ‘If I cannot have you, then no one can,’” the affidavit said.

Subsequently, the victim sought refuge in another hotel room. A man, referred to as “Jelly” in the reports, attempted to intervene, brandishing a firearm to defend the victim. This individual, associated with a previous felony warrant and identified as Anthony L. (42 years old), was later arrested.

Witnesses reported that Ruby had a subsequent confrontation with the victim, which resulted in the shooting.

“Ruby left but she later returned while [the victim] was sitting on the stairs. Ruby shot [the victim] multiple times before walking off,” the affidavit said. “[The victim] said she has known Ruby for approximately two months, and she sees her on a daily basis. [The victim] stated she and Ruby were se-ually involved one time in the past.”

Additionally, a witness also suggested a financial dispute might have been a factor.

The victim owed an “unknown amount of money to Ruby for an unknown reason,” the affidavit said. This witness also “desired for Ruby to be found and arrested.”

Ruby has been arrested without the possibility of bail. Her criminal history is not minimal; Ruby has had multiple interactions with law enforcement since 2020 on various charges, including battery, drug offenses, and burglary.

The stakes are now substantially higher for Ruby. Authorities have outlined multiple charges against her, encompassing attempted murder, aggravated battery, firearm-related offenses, and failure to adhere to a summons for a driving violation.
