Arrest made in Pittsylvania County murder case

Pittsylvania County, Virginia – The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has announced a major breakthrough in the February 12 killing of Jonathan D. Robertson in Gretna.

The suspect, Corderro Montez Rucker, 33, from Lynchburg, was arrested by Pittsylvania County investigators and the U.S. Marshal’s Service after a rigorous investigation.

Rucker has been charged with 1st-Degree Murder, Possession or transportation of firearms by a convicted felon, Use or display of a firearm in committing a felony, and Reckless handling of a firearm. The charges are a clear indication of the severity of the crime and the level of danger posed by Rucker to the community.

The accused is currently being held under no bond and is awaiting trial. Robertson passed away at a hospital after deputies responded to reports of shots being fired on Falcon Ridge Drive in the Leesville Lake community of Gretna.

The untimely demise of an innocent life is a tragedy that has left a deep impact on the community. However, the arrest of the suspect is a positive step in the right direction towards closure and healing for the family and friends of the victim.
