Young woman intentionally gave strong medication to her toddler until the 2-year-old died, police in disbelief what new evidence revealed

In a deeply unsettling case, a 21-year-old mother stands accused of intentionally overdosing her 2-year-old daughter with prescription medication and then depriving her of urgent medical care. The incident, which took place earlier this year, has resulted in the mother facing serious charges, including first-degree murder and kidnapping. While the details are harrowing, the prompt response by emergency services and the subsequent meticulous investigation by the police department have brought the matter to light.

21-year-old Macie S. has been arrested on allegations of causing her 2-year-old daughter’s death via a deliberate drug overdose and subsequently denying her necessary emergency medical intervention. Macie is currently held in jail without bail, facing charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping, as per online jail documents.

Early this year, emergency services responded to reports of an unconscious toddler inside a vehicle. Despite prompt medical attention and transportation to a nearby hospital, the young girl passed away later that day. Due to the suspicious nature of the child’s death, the investigation was handed over to the police department.

The department’s statement details that, “Detectives worked tirelessly over the last seven months and determined that on the day of the child’s death, the 2-year-old was deliberately provided as well as given access to prescription medication with criminal intent by her mother, Macie.” The report further states that Macie, aware of her daughter’s alarming state after consuming multiple medications, relocated her to a rural region in the county, purposefully delaying emergency medical care for several hours.

On the basis of their investigation, the police procured a no-bail warrant for Macie’s arrest on the aforementioned charges. As of now, the identity of the child remains undisclosed, and the authorities have yet to provide further details.

The police department is appealing to the public for any additional information related to this case. Those with relevant details are encouraged to contact Detective Braud at (530) 225-4200.
