VDOT announces road closure on Bottom Creek Road for Mill Creek bridge replacement

Roanoke, Virginia – VDOT contractors will begin work to replace the timber deck bridge over Mill Creek with a new concrete slab on Wednesday, November 6th. As part of this project, a section of Bottom Creek Road will be temporarily closed, with the closure expected to last until November 22nd, weather permitting.

To minimize inconvenience, drivers can use Rocky Road to bypass the affected area and reach the far side of the bridge. VDOT has placed signs along the route to notify and guide drivers about the detour.

Should the replacement work extend beyond November 22nd, any remaining construction will proceed with flagging operations to allow limited traffic through the area.

This bridge replacement is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at ensuring safer, more durable roadways for the community. Residents and travelers are encouraged to plan their routes accordingly and use extra caution near the construction zone during the closure period.
