Man said his girlfriend got very aggressive and attacked him with a crock pot knife because he wasn’t cutting vegetables properly when he grabbed a knife and stabbed her in the head and neck before setting up the scene to appear like it was in self-defense; arrested

According to reports, a 60-year-old man, later identified as Charles, has been arrested and now faces murder charges following the death of his girlfriend, later identified as Marcia, in a case that investigators suggest was meticulously arranged to appear like it was in self-defense.

The police department responded to a distressing 911 call made by Charles himself, claiming a fatal stabbing at their residence. Charles’s calm demeanor during the call, where he insisted Marcia had attacked him with a knife, immediately raised suspicions. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Marcia’s body inside the home, with deep cuts to her head and neck and a severely cut thumb indicative of defensive actions. The scene within the kitchen suggested a violent altercation, with broken kitchenware, bloody knives, and food items strewn about. Yet certain details seemed arranged, notably the placement of the knives near Marcia’s body, one covered in blood and the other suspiciously clean, hinting at a possible setup.

According to the arrest affidavit, Charles told investigators that he had been dating the victim for approximately one year. He stated that the victim got very aggressive. Charles added that he was cutting onions, and the victim stated that he wasn’t doing it correctly. Charles stated the victim shoved the crock pot towards him, and she came at him with a knife as he grabbed a knife. Charles said, ‘I became defensive’ and stated he didn’t remember the other details.” However, inconsistencies in his story, coupled with the absence of any attempt to provide aid to Marcia, cast doubt on his version of events.

The crime scene’s arrangement and additional evidence, such as bloody clothing and blood spatter on eyeglasses found in the home, further contradicted Charles’s claims. Notably, his comments to the dispatcher about Marcia’s unusual behavior that day, including her parking habits and an uncharacteristic purchase of bleach, added layers of complexity to the case. Charles has been taken into custody at the county jail, where he is held without bond.
