Parents of a 6-year-old girl, who ate only dog food and had broken and rotten teeth, occasionally beat her with a broom and had their other children also assault her while she was being held zip-tied in a dog cage; arrested!

Authorities said that the parents of a 6-year-old girl stand accused of subjecting their daughter to severe mistreatment. The 37-year-old father, later identified as Jacob, and the 33-year-old mother, later identified as Mimi, have been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of children after leaving their daughter locked in a cage, starving her for days, and having the other children in the home assault her.

A 911 call regarding a child’s well-being sparked a thorough investigation that led to the charges. Upon arrival at the home, the first responders were denied entry by the father, who instead brought the 6-year-old out to them. She was transported to a hospital, where her body temperature was reportedly recorded at 88.7 degrees. The hospital staff said there were numerous abrasions on her body and open sores, and many of her teeth appeared cracked and rotten.

The subsequent police response and investigation revealed a harrowing situation, prompting immediate action by law enforcement and child welfare agencies. The investigation showed that when officers arrived, they noticed the home was in deplorable condition, with dog feces, urine, and trash throughout the home. When talking to the six remaining children in the home, officers discovered that the child was being held naked and zip-tied in a dog cage, without food for several days in a row, and beat with a broom on multiple occasions.

As per reports, she was punished when attempting to escape the cage to get food. The victim also told authorities she slept locked in the cage every night, often ate only dog food, and was shot with a BB gun by her father. She was the only child being targeted and abused by her parents, while none of the other children appeared to have suffered any abuse. The investigation also showed another disturbing detail. Reportedly, few of the children participated in the abuse with the parents. The parents were taken into custody and are scheduled to appear in court on February 20. Both of them are being held without bond.
