Gas prices on the rise in Roanoke

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke’s gasoline prices have seen a notable increase this past week, with the average price per gallon reaching $3.11, as detailed by a recent GasBuddy survey.

The latest data from GasBuddy’s survey, which analyzed 155 stations in Roanoke, shows a 9.9-cent rise in gasoline prices over the last week. This surge sets the current average at $3.11 per gallon, marking a significant 26.6 cents increase from the previous month. Despite this upward trend, prices are still 10.5 cents per gallon lower compared to the same period last year. Diesel prices have also experienced a rise nationally, with an average increase of 6.9 cents, culminating in a $3.99 per gallon rate.

In terms of affordability, Roanoke’s gasoline stations offered prices ranging from $2.85 to $3.89 per gallon yesterday, highlighting a substantial $1.04 disparity. This variance reflects a broader statewide difference, where the lowest and highest gas prices stood at $2.71 and $3.99 per gallon, respectively, resulting in a $1.28 gap.

On a national scale, the average gasoline price has ascended by 5.2 cents over the past week, reaching $3.17 per gallon. This figure represents a 9.6 cent increase from last month and a 20 cent decrease from the previous year. These statistics are part of GasBuddy’s comprehensive analysis, which aggregates over 11 million weekly price reports from more than 150,000 gas stations across the United States.
