Mother told police “I’m gonna go home and drink more” after she accused her 3-year-old daughter of fatally injuring her 3-month-old brother because she was jealous of him and asked authorities to “evaluate her” before an autopsy revealed the injuries were inflicted by an adult and she ended behind bars

A 26-year-old mother, identified as Alisha, has been arrested and charged with one count of criminal homicide and one count of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from allegations that she beat her infant son to death and then attempted to blame the fatal injuries on her 3-year-old daughter, claiming the toddler was jealous of the newborn. The case, which has shocked the local community, involves allegations of fatal child abuse and an attempt to shift blame onto a toddler.

The distressing events unfolded in the early hours of a Sunday morning. Officers from the police department responded to a report about an unresponsive male infant. The first responders immediately commenced CPR on the victim and rushed him to a hospital, where, tragically, he was pronounced dead.

According to the police, Alisha tried to deflect the blame onto her 3-year-old daughter during questioning. She insisted that authorities should evaluate her daughter, suggesting that any harm inflicted on the infant was the result of the toddler’s jealousy. This claim was detailed in a probable cause affidavit, where Alisha is quoted as saying, “She’s the last person to see him alive and she’s been doing little jealousy, little things — evaluate that girl.”

According to the arrest affidavit, Alisha, along with her two children, had moved in with her cousin and the cousin’s 18-month-old child before the victim’s death. On the night of the incident, the cousin, after returning from work, found the infant unresponsive, stiff, and purple in color, lying next to his older sister and an air-conditioning unit. It was then that Alisha speculated about her daughter’s involvement in her son’s condition. Despite her initial claims, an autopsy report later concluded that the child’s injuries were inflicted by an adult, not a child. This key piece of evidence led to Alisha’s arrest and the charges for her son’s death. Alisha is currently being held in jail without bond, awaiting her arraignment.
