Two suspects arrested for burglary after cutting a fence at a Dominion Energy property in Loudoun County early on Saturday, police

In Virginia, two men were caught by police after breaking into a power plant.

In a news release, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said that two men were arrested early Saturday morning after it was reported that they had cut a fence on Dominion Energy property. The sheriff’s office said that the property is leased to someone else.

When the deputies got there, they found the two suspects and put them in jail. The men broke into the storage yard, and when deputies went there, they found a bag with wire cutters in it.

Christopher J. Macmillan, who is 51 years old, and Joshua L. Settle, who is 38 years old, were named as the suspects. Both come from Manassas, Virginia.

The men have been charged with having tools for breaking in, trying to steal, trespassing, destroying property, and plotting to steal. Both of them have been taken to the Loudoun Adult Detention Center.

Macmillan is being kept in jail without a bond, but Settles was given a $7,500 bond. As of Saturday afternoon, it was not clear whether or not the men had lawyers. A public information officer did not answer the phone when CBS News called.

Police are still looking into what happened, but it seemed like the men were there to steal copper wire.

In a news release, officials from Dominion Energy, which works in 16 states and provides electricity to 7 million customers, said that there was no breach of a substation nearby.

Attacks on power grids have been in the news lately. After substations were damaged on purpose, people in Moore County, North Carolina were left in the dark for days. In June 2022, the Department of Homeland Security warned that domestic extremists have been making plans to disrupt the power grid since at least 2020.
