Visitors to Mill Mountain Star Trail should plan ahead as the parking lot closes for trail improvement work

Roanoke, Virginia – Starting the week of March 10, 2025, the Mill Mountain Star Trail parking lot will be temporarily closed due to an exciting trail expansion and enhancement project led by the Roanoke Parks Foundation. This closure is expected to last several months, allowing for significant improvements to the area.

Trails Remain Open for Public Use

While the parking lot will be closed, the existing Mill Mountain trails will remain accessible to visitors. Hikers, runners, and outdoor enthusiasts can still enjoy the trails without disruption by using alternate access points. It is worth noting the project should not impact existing Mill Mountain trails, so users will still have access.

For convenience, a trail map with access points and alternative parking areas is available for users who wish to plan their visit accordingly.

This expansion project aims to enhance the outdoor experience on Mill Mountain, ensuring better access and improved trails for future visitors. The Roanoke Parks Foundation encourages patience and cooperation as they work to improve this beloved natural space.
