Woman ran to a neighbor’s home asking them to call police as her boyfriend accidentally shot himself only to change her story later saying an intruder was responsible for the incident, but investigators had another point of view; sentenced

Court records show that a 46-year-old woman, later identified as Creshella, has been sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 24 years for the 2020 murder of her 54-year-old boyfriend, later identified as Roger. The conviction concludes a complex investigation marked by Creshella’s shifting accounts of the tragic events within their home.

The police were called to the scene in the early hours of April 2, 2020, following a distress call from a neighbor’s house where Creshella sought help. Reportedly, she ran to the neighbor’s home and asked them to call the police, as he had accidentally shot himself. Upon arriving at their residence, they quickly located an adult male victim — later identified as Roger—who was bleeding after suffering from what appeared to be at least one gunshot wound. Investigators reportedly spoke to the neighbor whose house Creshella went to for help following the shooting. The neighbor reportedly told police that when she came to the house, Creshella said that Roger had accidentally shot himself. Creshella also spoke to investigators and told them that she was in the bathroom, and when she opened the door, Roger was lying on the floor in blood.

Emergency medical personnel also responded to the scene and pronounced Roger dead at about 1:52 a.m., police said. Creshella was identified as a suspect despite her initial claims of an accidental self-inflicted injury by Roger. Officers at the scene took Creshella into custody and charged her with murder, noting that the motive for the shooting remained “unclear.” Creshella’s narrative soon shifted to allegations of an unknown intruder being the assailant, further complicating the investigation. However, evidence collected at the scene contradicted her statements, pointing to Creshella as the shooter, with forensic analysis indicating Roger was shot from within the bathroom, where Creshella was located at the time.

Creshella was found guilty of murder, evidence tampering, and illegal firearm possession, acknowledging her attempt to mislead investigators by hiding the murder weapon and changing her story. Despite her acquittal on a charge specifying intentional murder, the jury’s verdict reflects the serious nature of her actions and their fatal consequences. Judge’s sentencing of Creshella to life imprisonment brings a measure of closure to a case characterized by deceit and a tragic end to Roger’s life.
