Roanoke sees over 11 cent drop in average gas prices
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke has seen a significant decrease in gasoline prices over the past week, with the trend also reflected in national averages.
According to a recent survey by GasBuddy, which covered 155 stations in Roanoke, the average price of gasoline in the city has dropped by 11.4 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $2.88 per gallon. This decline in prices is not just a short-term change; it marks a substantial decrease of 23.3 cents per gallon compared to last month and is 11.9 cents per gallon lower than the same time last year.
The range of prices within Roanoke also shows considerable variation. As per GasBuddy’s price reports, the lowest-priced station in Roanoke was at $2.67 per gallon, while the highest-priced station was at $3.29 per gallon, indicating a notable difference of 62 cents per gallon. This variation is even more pronounced at the state level, where the lowest price was $2.29 per gallon and the highest was a steep $4.29 per gallon, a difference of $2.00 per gallon.
National Trends in Gasoline Prices
Nationally, the trend mirrors that of Roanoke, with average gasoline prices falling 8.6 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $3.03 per gallon. This national average reflects a significant decrease of 26.9 cents per gallon from a month ago and is 6.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. This data, compiled by GasBuddy from more than 11 million weekly price reports, covers over 150,000 gas stations across the country, providing a comprehensive view of the fuel market.
The decline in the national average price of diesel is also notable, having fallen 9.2 cents in the last week to stand at $3.99 per gallon.
