Roanoke, Virginia – Residents of Roanoke County should be aware of changes to the trash collection schedule during the upcoming holiday weeks. These changes are due to the closure of Roanoke County offices in observance of Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Christmas Week Schedule

For the week of December 25th, the trash collection schedule will be adjusted as follows:

  • Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, December 26th.
  • Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, December 27th.
  • Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, December 28th.
  • Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, December 29th.

This alternate schedule is due to the closure of county offices on Monday in observance of the Christmas holiday.

New Year’s Week Schedule

Similarly, in the first week of January, trash collection will also experience a one-day delay. The schedule for this week is:

  • Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, January 2nd.
  • Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, January 3rd.
  • Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, January 4th.
  • Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, January 5th.

This change is due to the observance of the New Year’s holiday, resulting in the closure of county offices on Monday.

Residents are encouraged to take note of these changes to ensure their trash is collected without any inconvenience. These schedule adjustments are important to align with holiday observances and ensure the smooth operation of county services during this holiday season.
