Shooting incident at Danville Mall left one person dead, suspect wanted

DANVILLE, Va. – One individual lost their life as a result of a shooting that took place on Saturday evening inside the Hibbett Sports shop located inside the Danville Mall.

According to the Danville Police Department, the gunshot took place at around 7:14 p.m. and resulted in a search of each establishment before customers were allowed to leave. There is no immediate danger posed by a gunman at this location.

The suspect was able to get away from the scene of the crime on foot. So far, the information that has been gathered shows that the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the customer.

EMS personnel transported the victim to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

It would seem that this is an isolated incident, and there is no more risk to the community at this time.
