RICHMOND, Va. – Around the state, a campaign is now going on to get more people to sign up for the new COVID-19 booster.
Richmond-Henrico Health Districts says that only about 14% of people have a bivalent booster vaccine right now.
That is also true for the whole of the state to consider.
As for the delay in individuals joining up, medical professionals believe that we are all suffering from COVID fatigue. There are various booster alternatives available to defend oneself against the omicron variety.
“But it’s still impossible to know up front who’s going to get a mild case versus something either more serious or more long-lasting and so that’s why we really still are encouraging people even if you’ve had it before to go ahead, get that booster,” said Dr. Elaine Perry, RHHD Director.
Adults and children as young as five may take bivalent boosters that are available on the market.
RHHD says that most people get their vaccine and flu shot at the same time at the pharmacy.
