Public meeting to discuss Lake Anna State Park Master Plan update scheduled for this week

Mineral, Virginia – The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will hold a public comment meeting on October 17 at 6 p.m. at the Louisa County Public Library, located at 881 David Highway, Mineral, Va. This in-person meeting will focus on updates to the Lake Anna State Park Master Plan, which is currently under development. Those who cannot attend in person can still participate by emailing their comments to [email protected]. A 30-day public comment period will follow the meeting, with a deadline for email submissions on November 17.

Key Topics to be Discussed

The meeting will provide an opportunity for the public to learn more about the updates and proposed changes for Lake Anna State Park. Attendees will hear about the results of public opinion surveys and Visitor Experience findings, which play a key role in shaping the park’s future. The meeting will also cover the park’s mission statement, key themes, and discuss the Master Plan Map, which depicts proposed improvements within the park. A phased development plan, outlining the order and timeline for park enhancements, will also be shared.

Virginia law requires that master plans be created for all state parks to ensure that they align with both public interest and environmental stewardship. The Lake Anna State Park Master Plan will outline the size, types, and locations of facilities, infrastructure like roads and utilities, and provide a roadmap for phased development, including estimated costs for operations, maintenance, and staffing.
