Roanoke gas prices experienced a slight uptick, now averaging $3.54

Roanoke, Virginia – Gasoline prices in Roanoke have seen a slight increase of 0.3 cents per gallon over the past week, reaching an average of $3.54 per gallon, as reported by a GasBuddy survey covering 155 stations within the region. A comparison reveals that current prices are 23.9 cents higher than the previous month and 8.5 cents more than this time last year. On a national scale, the average diesel price has escalated by 2.1 cents within the week, registering at $4.297 per gallon.

Recent data from GasBuddy indicates that the most affordable gasoline in Roanoke was priced at $3.28 per gallon, while the highest was at $3.89 — a 61 cent variance. Statewide, the prices ranged from $3.09 to a peak of $4.49 per gallon, leading to a significant $1.40 gap.

Nationally, the average gasoline price has remained consistent over the past week, maintaining an average of $3.82 per gallon. In comparison to the prior month, the national average has surged by 26 cents, yet it remains 4.5 cents lower than the same period last year. This national data is derived from GasBuddy’s extensive collection, which encompasses over 11 million weekly price reports from more than 150,000 gas stations.

Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy’s head of petroleum analysis, remarked, “The national average price of gasoline eked out a small decline over the last week, with some states seeing a drop of 5-10 cents per gallon, while new issues in some states, like Arizona, have caused prices to jump notably in others. With California facing a deluge of water from Tropical Storm Hilary, some level of refinery problems that could impact gasoline prices could arise, and with eyes on a more active Atlantic, the next few weeks will bring additional volatility to what motorists can expect at the pump.”
