Monday morning, small asteroid entered the Earth’s atmosphere and only people living in south UK had the chance to see it

On Monday morning, people in the south of the UK who use Twitter were excited to see a small asteroid enter the earth’s atmosphere.

Many people posted videos of the one-meter asteroid, named Sar2667, that was seen before 3 a.m. above the English Channel.

The European Space Agency tweeted that the object had been found and was expected to safely enter Earth’s atmosphere over northern France between 3.50 and 4.03am CET (2.50am-3.03am GMT).

It is only the seventh time that an asteroid impact has been predicted before it happens. Images of a bright ball of light moving across the sky made it possible to make the prediction.

“A sign of how quickly the world’s ability to find asteroids is improving!” the agency wrote.

“Around here? Keep an eye out for a “ShootingStar.”
