Lottery luck strikes twice for Virginia woman who previously won one hundred thousand dollars in scratch game

Concord, Virginia – For most people, winning the lottery once in a lifetime is an unbelievable dream. But for Sharon Godsey of Concord, that dream has become reality twice. Her most recent win came in the March 31 Powerball drawing, earning her another $100,000 payday.

“I just hit the floor! My knees collapsed!” Godsey told Virginia Lottery officials, recalling the moment she discovered her big win.

Sharon’s winning ticket was purchased at Carson Market on 10060 Village Highway in Concord. She matched four of the first five numbers and the Powerball number. While that would normally yield a $50,000 prize, she had opted to spend an extra dollar on Power Play—a choice that doubled her prize to $100,000.

The lucky numbers in that drawing were 12, 41, 44, 52, and 64, with the Powerball number being 25. Sharon selected the numbers herself, using a combination of her favorites. Her win is remarkable not only because of the odds but because she had already hit a similar jackpot once before. In 2013, Sharon won the top $100,000 prize in the Virginia Lottery’s Sapphire Riches scratch-off game.

Beating the Odds Once Again

Powerball drawings take place at 10:59 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The odds of winning the jackpot by matching all six numbers are 1 in 292.2 million, while the overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25.

Sharon’s incredible double win is a rare example of lightning striking twice in the same place. Her story is a powerful reminder that fortune can smile more than once—and sometimes, choosing your favorite numbers and spending that extra dollar can make all the difference.
