Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office invites community to join Cover the Cruiser fundraiser for Special Olympics
Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office is inviting community members to take part in a meaningful fundraising effort in support of the Special Olympics on April 12, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bubba’s 33, 4824 Valley View Blvd. The event, known as Cover the Cruiser/Tip a Deputy, is designed to raise both funds and awareness for individuals with intellectual disabilities by promoting inclusion and community spirit.
A Unique Way to Give Back
The initiative offers an engaging way to support a worthy cause. Throughout the event, a sheriff’s cruiser will be prominently displayed, and members of the public can “cover” it with stickers that they purchase as donations. Attendees are also encouraged to show appreciation by tipping deputies, all of whom will be actively participating in serving the community during the event.
“Cover the Cruiser/Tip a Deputy is a law enforcement fundraising initiative for Virginia Special Olympics,” reads the announcement. “You will have the opportunity to watch us serve the community on the inside or have your donations go towards covering an entire cruiser.”
Every dollar raised through this event will directly benefit the Special Olympics, an organization that creates inclusive opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities through athletic programs and community involvement. As the Sheriff’s Office puts it, “Throughout this initiative, every donation will benefit the Special Olympics! Join us in our mission to ‘Cover the Cruiser’ and contribute to a wonderful cause.”
Donations will be accepted in both cash and card, making it easy for all attendees to participate and contribute to the success of the fundraiser.
This event not only supports a crucial cause but also strengthens the connection between law enforcement and the local community, showing what can be accomplished when everyone comes together for inclusion, awareness, and support.
