Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office encourages Virginia students in criminal justice to apply for the VSA Scholarship Program

Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office is encouraging eligible students to apply for a $1,000 scholarship offered through the Virginia Sheriffs’ Association (VSA) Scholarship Program for the 2025–2026 academic year. This opportunity is specifically aimed at those pursuing studies in law enforcement or criminal justice and provides meaningful support for Virginians seeking a future in public safety.

“We’re excited to remind you that a $1,000 scholarship is available to a deserving student who meets the scholarship criteria! If you know a student who is dedicated, hardworking, and ready to take the next step in their educational journey, this opportunity is for them!” the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office shared on social media.

The VSA Scholarship Program is part of a broader initiative to support education across the Commonwealth and is offered in areas where sheriff’s offices participate in the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) scholarship fundraising efforts. Students must be currently enrolled in a Virginia college or university to be eligible for consideration.

A Boost for Students Seeking Careers in Law Enforcement

The scholarship provides both financial relief and recognition for students who are passionate about making a difference through a career in criminal justice or law enforcement. This program not only supports education but also invests in the next generation of community protectors.

The deadline to apply is May 1, 2025, and late applications will not be considered, so students are urged to begin the process early. Full details, including application requirements and eligibility guidelines, can be found at vasheriffinstitute.org/programs.

This scholarship is a great way for students to take the next step in their education and career, with the support of law enforcement professionals who are committed to building a stronger, safer Virginia.
