Roanoke, Virginia – The City of Roanoke is offering community-based organizations and small nonprofits a valuable opportunity to strengthen their foundation through Grant Ready Roanoke, a six-month skills-building course designed to enhance nonprofit capacity and effectiveness. A Path to Growth for Emerging Nonprofits
Even organizations that are not yet officially recognized as nonprofits are encouraged to apply. The Engagement Ready Roanoke steering committee will select 10 organizations to take part in the program, with notifications expected in mid-April. Once selected, two representatives from each group will commit approximately 10 hours per month to learning and development sessions aimed at expanding their impact and operational knowledge.
The course will begin in May 2025 and will focus on nonprofit fundamentals, grant readiness, and sustainable community engagement. A steering committee made up of City of Roanoke staff and residents will review applications to determine the organizations that will benefit most from this initiative.
Led by the City of Roanoke in partnership with the Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance, Grant Ready Roanoke is part of a broader citywide effort to support nonprofit development and enhance local community services. By equipping organizations with essential skills, the program aims to increase their ability to secure funding and create meaningful change in the community.
This is a rare opportunity for small nonprofits and community organizations to gain the knowledge and resources necessary for long-term success. Interested groups should submit their applications before March 24, 2025, to be considered for the program.
