City of Roanoke kicks off Christmas tree collection program

Roanoke, Virginia – The City of Roanoke Solid Waste Management division has begun its annual Christmas tree collection program, ensuring that natural trees are disposed of responsibly. The initiative runs from December 30 through January 30, giving residents ample time to participate.

To prepare their trees for collection, residents must remove all lights, ornaments, garlands, tinsel, and bulbs. Trees set out with decorations will be sent to the landfill, while undecorated trees will be mulched and repurposed.

The city asks residents to place their natural trees at the curb on their scheduled collection day. This environmentally friendly program encourages proper disposal while minimizing waste.

For any inquiries or additional assistance, residents can contact Solid Waste Customer Service at 540-853-2000, Option 1.
