Roanoke County Social Services Building closed for emergency repairs

Salem, Virginia – The Roanoke County Social Services Building, located at 220 E. Main Street in Salem, will be temporarily closed on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The closure is due to an emergency sewer main pipe repair that became necessary after an issue occurred around 5:00 p.m. today. Building Maintenance staff are currently working to fix the problem, and it is anticipated that the building will reopen to the public on Friday, September 13. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” stated the officials.

Alternative Services Available During Closure

During the building’s closure, clients needing an EBT card can visit the Roanoke City Department of Social Services at 1510 Williamson Rd, Roanoke, Virginia 24012, for emergency card issuance. Alternatively, clients can return to the Roanoke County Social Services office on Friday when it reopens.
