Man, who put his wife’s body in plastic bags after strangling her to death and then dumped her in a remote area after midnight so no one could see him, learns his fate

Colorado – In a chilling resolution to a case that has haunted Colorado residents, the 27-year-old man, identified as J. Nuno, has been sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. This comes after a District Attorney’s Office announcement that detailed Nuno’s conviction for the heinous murder of his 24-year-old wife, identified as J. Cigarroa, in March 2021.

Cigarroa’s disappearance triggered a frantic search that ended in heartbreak. She was reported missing on March 10, 2021, with a missing person’s alert following shortly after. Unfortunately, her body was discovered just two days later in a rural area. The investigation rapidly focused on her husband, who was arrested and charged with her murder.

During the trial, it was revealed that Nuno had strangled Cigarroa to death and then went to great lengths to conceal his crime. He stuffed her body into plastic bags, dumped it along a secluded road in a remote area after midnight, hoping that no one could see him, and attempted to cover up the area with loose grass and dirt. These horrifying actions were compounded by evidence presented during the trial, including data from Nuno’s cellphone, which placed him at the remote location where Cigarroa’s body was found.

The trial unearthed disturbing details about the events leading up to Cigarroa’s death. Nuno had reported his wife missing himself, claiming she had planned to meet friends who later confirmed they had neither heard from nor seen her. Neighbors reported hearing noises suggesting violence the day before she was reported missing. Furthermore, unusual activity around the residence suggested premeditated actions to dispose of Cigarroa’s body. Witnesses reported unusual late-night behavior by Nuno, such as moving cars in and out of the garage, according to court documents. Another witness reported seeing him on the street leaning into his trunk and carrying a black backpack after midnight.

The victim’s brother, shared his relief and continued sorrow on social media, emphasizing that justice has been served, allowing his sister to “finally rest peacefully.” His statements also highlight an urgent message about recognizing and addressing signs of domestic abuse. He expressed hope that this case would serve as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking in abusive relationships, urging those involved in similar circumstances to seek help and escape potentially fatal situations.

The District Attorney’s Office highlighted the severity of the crimes, which led to Nuno’s conviction on multiple charges, including first-degree murder, assault, tampering with a deceased body, and abuse of a corpse. His life sentence is a testament to the gravity of his actions and the loss of Cigarroa, whose life was brutally cut short.
