Women, who were teenagers when they helped their friend beat an 18-year-old boy for half an hour before he grabbed a sword and stabbed him in the neck, were sentenced

Florida – In a chilling case in Florida that highlights the extreme actions driven by romantic disputes and jealosy, two young women were sentenced last week on Thursday for their roles in the murder of an 18-year-old boy, identified as D. Grant. 20-year-old C. Parisien and 19-year-old J. Smith received 25 years in prison for assisting in the murder that unfolded nearly four years ago when they were teenagers over a feud involving romantic entanglements.

The events leading to Grant’s tragic death began at an apartment complex where the victim lived. On that fateful day, authorities stated that Parisien, who was 17 at the time, played a pivotal role by luring Grant to the location with a fake sex promise. Once there, the victim was ambushed by a 17-year-old boy, identified as A. Clements, along with Smith, who was also a 17-year-old at the time. The attack lasted an agonizing 31 minutes, during which Clements brutally beat Grant while he pleaded for his life. Authorities said at the time that Grant tried to run away but was held back.

Parisien served as a lookout during the ordeal. The attack culminated with Clements, fueled by jealousy and rage over Grant’s relationship with his ex-girlfriend, fatally stabbing Grant with a sword first in the neck and then in the chest. Clements then said he was upset because he had an ’emotional connection’ to the ex-girlfriend. In a gruesome end to the assault, the perpetrators then dumped Grant’s body over a railing, a mere 30 feet from his home.

The plot to murder Grant was not a spontaneous act but a calculated plan, as evidenced by text messages exchanged between Clements and Parisien. In these messages, Clements expressed his intent to kill, stating murder was imminent. Parisien, far from dissuading him, offered to help, scheduling the murder around her other commitments. This exchange highlighted the cold premeditation behind the act. According to reports, Parisien was Clements’ girlfriend when they plotted the murder.

The investigation into the murder led to the arrest of Parisien and Smith, who both pleaded guilty to charges including second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit murder. Their guilty pleas led to the reduction of their charges from first-degree murder, reflecting their cooperation and perhaps some measure of remorse for their actions.

During the sentencing, the victim’s family conveyed their profound grief and the irreversible impact of the loss of their loved one. Grant’s mother, Madge Emile, shared the heartbreaking tradition of saying goodnight to her son, a routine forever broken by the tragic events. As the community reels from this horrific act, the focus now shifts to Clements, whose trial for first-degree murder and related charges is set to begin in January.
