Roanoke County announces service changes and closures for Labor Day holiday
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke County’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of Labor Day. This closure will affect various services and facilities across the county, including changes to trash collection schedules and the hours of recreation centers and public libraries.
Trash Collection Delays
Trash collection services will be delayed by one day for the entire week of September 2-6. The adjusted schedule is as follows:
- Monday routes will be collected on Tuesday, September 3.
- Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, September 4.
- Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, September 5.
- Thursday routes will be collected on Friday, September 6.
Facility Closures and Modified Hours
Roanoke County Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, September 2. Various Parks, Recreation, and Tourism facilities will have altered schedules:
- Explore Park Visitor Center will be open from 9 AM to 7 PM.
- Treetop Quest at Explore Park will operate from 10 AM to 5 PM, with the last call at 3:20 PM.
- Splash Valley Water Park will be open from 11 AM to 7 PM.
- Green Ridge Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 AM to 2 PM.
- Brambleton Recreation Center and the Public Service Center will be closed for the day.
Other Service Adjustments
CORTRAN services will not be available on September 2, and the Roanoke County Circuit Court will also be closed. However, the McAfee Knob Trailhead Shuttle will maintain its normal operating hours.
