Roanoke City announces revised trash collection schedule for Labor Day week

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke City has announced office closures and a revised schedule for waste collection due to the upcoming Labor Day holiday on Monday, September 2, 2024. This adjustment will affect the collection of trash, bulk items, brush, and B-WEEK single-stream recycling.

Residents who typically have their waste collected on Mondays can expect services to occur on Tuesday, September 3, instead. Subsequent collection days throughout the week will also experience a one-day delay. This means that Tuesday’s usual pickups will shift to Wednesday, Wednesday’s to Thursday, and Thursday’s services will move to Friday.

This temporary schedule change ensures that all city services remain uninterrupted while accommodating the holiday. Roanoke City aims to minimize inconvenience and ensure that all residents receive timely waste removal despite the observance of Labor Day.

For any queries or additional information, residents are encouraged to contact the Solid Waste Management Customer Call Center at 540-853-2000, selecting option 1. This will provide access to further assistance and details regarding the temporary adjustments.
