Sons begged their father to stop as he took a kitchen knife and began stabbing their mother before dousing her with gasoline and watching her burn

Tennessee – In a chilling act of domestic violence that has shocked many in Tennessee, 28-year-old Z. Mowel has been charged with multiple felonies after admitting to stabbing his wife and leaving her to burn in their home. According to the authorities, Mowel faces severe charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated assault related to domestic violence, and domestic assault. The heinous crime unfolded on Monday evening at Mowel’s home, and firefighters were sent to the scene following a report of a fire.

The investigation, conducted by local police and state agents, revealed that Mowel attacked his wife, T. Mowel, by stabbing her and dousing her with gasoline before setting their home ablaze. The victim’s twin sister set up a GoFundMe to cover her sister’s extensive medical expenses and lost income. The fundraiser details the gruesome nature of the attack, describing how Mowel first grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife multiple times and beat her before setting her on fire in front of their two young children, aged five and eight, who were begging him to stop.

Despite the severe assault, the victim miraculously survived and is currently recovering at the hospital. Her injuries are grave: she is paralyzed from the waist down, has third-degree injuries from the fire covering her right leg, a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and multiple stab wounds. Recovery is anticipated to take over a year. The children are now in the custody of their aunt, as the family attempts to heal from this traumatic experience. The community and extended family are rallying to support Tessa and her children, emphasizing that they did not deserve such horrific treatment.

Investigators found the victim near the back door of the residence, smoke swirling around, and a knife still lodged in her body. This discovery only added to the grim scene that the first responders and law enforcement had to manage. Despite the clear evidence and his own admission upon the arrival of the police—declaring, “I did it, It was me”—the motive behind Mowel’s violent outbreak remains unclear. Law enforcement noted that prior to the attack, the couple had been involved in a heated argument that escalated dramatically.

Mowel is currently detained in jail, with a bond set at $765,000. The community and legal observers await the judicial process, hoping for justice for Tessa and her children. As the case progresses towards a legal resolution with Mowel’s upcoming court appearances, the focus remains on the recovery of T. Mowel and the well-being of her children, who have endured unimaginable trauma.
