Roanoke, Virginia – Recent data reveals a decline in gasoline prices in Roanoke, bringing a sense of relief to vehicle owners. Over the past week, average gasoline prices have dropped by 2.5 cents, reaching $2.88 per gallon. This information, sourced from GasBuddy’s comprehensive survey of 155 stations in Roanoke, highlights a significant change in fuel costs.

The trend in Roanoke reflects a broader movement in fuel prices across the nation. Comparing current prices to those from a month ago, Roanoke’s prices have decreased by 10.2 cents per gallon. This reduction is even more pronounced when compared to last year’s figures, showing a decrease of 19.5 cents per gallon. The current state of fuel prices not only impacts individual budgets but also has broader economic implications.

In terms of diesel, the national average has seen a decrease of 5.6 cents over the last week, standing at $3.90 per gallon. This drop in diesel prices is part of the larger trend observed in the gasoline market, indicating a period of easing fuel costs.

Diving deeper into the pricing landscape within Roanoke, the disparity between the cheapest and most expensive gas stations is quite stark. According to GasBuddy’s price reports, the lowest-priced station in Roanoke was at $2.63 per gallon, while the highest reached $3.89 per gallon, a significant difference of $1.26 per gallon. This variation in prices shows the importance of choosing the right station for refueling.

The state-level scenario also mirrors this trend of price variations. The cheapest gasoline in the state was priced at $2.34 per gallon, whereas the highest was at $3.99 per gallon. This difference of $1.65 per gallon across the state further emphasizes the fluctuating nature of fuel prices.

On a national scale, the average price of gasoline has fallen by 3.8 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.03 per gallon today. This current national average represents a decrease of 12.2 cents from the previous month and stands 22.0 cents lower than the same period last year.
