Roanoke adjusts solid waste collection schedule in light of Labor Day

Roanoke, Virginia – In light of the upcoming Labor Day on September 4, 2023, Roanoke City has announced adjustments to its solid waste collection schedule. The closure of offices on the aforementioned Monday necessitates a one-day postponement of all waste collection activities.

The revised schedule affects both residential and commercial sectors. Specifically, collections originally slated for Monday will occur on Tuesday, with subsequent days also experiencing a one-day shift: Tuesday collections will be on Wednesday, Wednesday’s on Thursday, and Thursday’s collections moved to Friday.

These changes are only for the week spanning September 4–8. Standard collection operations will resume the following week. Roanoke City emphasizes the importance of residents and businesses acquainting themselves with this temporary change, ensuring seamless waste management during the holiday period.
