Local water park to host unique swimming event for dogs

Roanoke County, Virginia – As the summer season draws to a close, Splash Valley is offering a unique opportunity for your beloved pets.

On September 9, the water park will host the “Pooches in the Pool” event. This special occasion will allow area dogs to enjoy a refreshing swim.

The Regional Center for Animal Care & Protection (RCACP) is set to distribute complimentary dog tags during the event. Additionally, participants can engage in a costume test and utilize provided photo opportunities to commemorate the day.

Attendees can select from two designated time slots:

  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. catered to dogs weighing under 25 pounds
  • 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. designed for dogs weighing over 25 pounds

The Roanoke County Parks and Recreation Department has stipulated that all dogs attending the event must have current vaccinations. Furthermore, a liability waiver is to be filled out on-site prior to park entry. The department also emphasizes that aggressive behavior from any dog will not be permitted, leading to the owner and the pet being asked to exit the premises.

Those wishing to attend must pre-register. The entrance fee is set at $7, or guests can opt for a donation equivalent to the RCACP.

For comprehensive details regarding the event, visit the Roanoke County Parks and Recreation website.
