Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office intensifies engagement with senior community, organizes a free trip to D-Day Memorial

Roanoke, Virginia – Under the guidance of Sheriff Hash, the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office consistently pursues strategies to fortify its rapport with community members, as articulated by deputies.

A key demographic that the office is concentrating on is the senior populace. To foster interaction among seniors, the Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with local community stakeholders, is organizing a free one-day trip to the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford.

The deputies confirm that this trip is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26, 2023. It encompasses transportation, admission to the memorial, and a midday meal. Sunshine Tours will facilitate transport, departing from Roanoke at precisely 9:00 a.m. It’s important to note that availability is restricted to the inaugural 50 seniors who complete the registration process, which concludes on Friday, September 15, 2023.

On a related note, the Sheriff’s Office conducts regular “TRIAD” assemblies, targeting the safety and welfare of seniors. These sessions cover pertinent subjects such as potential Medicare deception, susceptibility to romantic and personal frauds, and pathways to financial independence. Deputies describe “TRIAD” as a synergistic initiative comprising law enforcement entities (encompassing police, fire departments, and sheriff’s offices), senior community members, and affiliated senior organizations. The primary objective is to diminish crimes perpetrated against this vulnerable demographic.

The inception of this program occurs in association with the Virginia Office of the Attorney General. Those intrigued by the aforementioned trip or seeking detailed insights regarding “TRIAD” are advised to liaise directly with the Sheriff’s Office at 540-853-1761.
