German automotive parts supplier to establish North American Headquarters in Salem, creating 119 new job opportunities

Salem, Virginia – German automotive parts supplier STS Group AG has announced the establishment of its North American headquarters in Salem, which will provide interior and exterior parts for commercial and personal vehicles.

This new facility will supply Volvo Trucks in Pulaski County and other truck and vehicle facilities throughout the Midwest and Southeastern U.S. markets. The General Electric plant in Salem closed in late December 2018, and the new facility is creating 119 job opportunities in the region.

STS Group AG is collaborating with Phoenix Group, the former owners of General Electric, to upfit the 200,000 square-foot construction and build an additional 32,000 square feet to add to the north end of the building. Salem is a perfect base for STS Group AG to start its footprint in the USA and extend its customer portfolio, said Alberto Buniato, CEO of STS Group.

The company has partnered with the City of Salem, the Roanoke Regional Partnership, and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to support the new facility. STS Group has also received local assistance of $500,000 from Governor Glenn Youngkin’s grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund.

The Roanoke Regional Partnership estimates that the project will have an annual economic impact of $66 million and create 61 indirect and induced jobs. The STS Group North America’s job creation will be provided through the Virginia Talent Accelerator Program, which assists new facility start-ups through customized direct recruitment and training services that are tailored to the company’s products, equipment, and standards.

The STS Group AG is currently hiring for the Salem plant, and interested individuals can submit applications through the Adler Pelzer Group website.
