Lifeguards for summer season 2023 wanted: Christiansburg Aquatic Center is starting lifeguard training next month

CHRISTIANSBURG, Virginia – This summer, the town of Christiansburg is working to make sure that there are lifeguards on all bodies of water.

Next month, lifeguard training will begin at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. Anyone over 15 can sign up for classes.

Terry Caldwell, who is in charge of aquatics, says the goal is to have enough staff in the area to keep everyone safe in the water.

Caldwell said, “By 2023, we want to reach out to the community and give them the tools they need to keep people from drowning, not just in indoor pools but also in outdoor pools, ponds on lakes, and even in our own backyards.”
