Chick-fil-A’s released interesting brand-new cauliflower sandwich. The product is only available at three markets

You could say that about Chick-fil-new A’s cauliflower sandwich, which is being tested in the Triad and two other markets right now.

Chick-fil-A based the new sandwich on its best-selling chicken sandwich.

In fact, it’s made almost the exact same way. The company said in a statement that the cauliflower is “marinated, breaded with a signature seasoning, pressure-cooked, and then served on a toasted buttery bun with two dill pickle chips.”

Even a single piece of sliced cauliflower that is the same size and shape as chicken is used by the company.

“Our original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich was the inspiration for our new sandwich,” said Leslie Neslage, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A. “Our customers told us they wanted to eat more vegetables and wanted a main dish that was mostly plants and tasted like Chick-fil-A.”

Even though the sandwich is made from plants, the company doesn’t call it vegetarian because it doesn’t have “areas where only vegetarian food is made.” Chick-fil-A also said that milk and eggs are in the recipe.

The cauliflower sandwich has 350 calories and 19 grams of fat, which is 90 fewer calories than the regular chicken sandwich but two more grams of fat.

Chick-fil-A started testing the new sandwich on the market on February 13. The sandwich is sold at Chick-fil-A locations in the Thruway Shopping Center, Hanes Mall, 924 Hanes Mall Boulevard, and 1925 N. Peace Haven Road in Winston-Salem.

Some restaurants in Greensboro, High Point, Kernersville, Clemmons, Stanleyville, Lexington, Burlington, Mebane, Elkin, and Mount Airy are also testing it.

Denver, Colorado, and Charleston, South Carolina, are the other two test markets.

The company said in 2018 that it had been working on a sandwich made from plants. The company quickly threw out any recipes with “mysterious” ingredients, but before deciding on cauliflower, it looked at a wide range of options, such as beans, mushrooms, carrots, and beets.

The company’s head chef, Stuart Tracy, told the Nation’s Restaurant News this month, “Customers told us loud and clear that they wanted something that tasted like Chick-fil-A.”

During the testing phase, which is expected to last a couple of months, Chick-fil-A will figure out how well its employees can make the sandwich and if customers like it.

The company said that customers can check the Chick-fil-A app or call their local Chick-fil-A to find out if their nearby restaurant will be taking part in the test.
