Parents kept their toddler girl in extremely unsanitary conditions just feet from drugѕ and used ѕyringeѕ in a cradle filled with cigarette butts and uгine-ѕoiled bed sheets before the girl ingested various drugѕ resulting in her death; sentenced

Court records show that the 30-year-old mother and 38-year-old father of a 2-year-old girl who was kept in extremely unsanitary conditions and died of a dгug overdose have pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and child abuse—disregard for life—and were sentenced to 11 years in prison each.

Anna and Jesse initially faced charges of felony murder but struck a deal with prosecutors that led to them pleading guilty to the aforementioned charges and being sentenced to a total of 11 years in the state penitentiary. The conditions in which the little girl lived and eventually died after ingesting a dangerous mix of drugѕ, including fentanyl and a veterinary sedative, painted a horrific picture of neglect and disregard for basic safety and well-being.

According to police records, the incident occurred in the early morning hours, and first responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report regarding a toddler not breathing. EMS crews arrived to find the 2-year-old girl unresponsive, and despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The conditions in the home were alarming. The room the parents and child shared was a mess, with clothes, trash, and an overflowing litter box all over it. The toddler’s crib was filled with cigarette butts, loose change, and urine-soiled bedsheets. Investigators also found multiple used syringes and heroin capsules within reach of the child.

The autopsy report was a key piece of evidence, revealing that the child died of a combined overdose of fentanyl and Xylazine (tranquilizer that people use it as a cutting agent in heroin), in addition to nicotine exposure. In addition to the prison terms, Anna and Jesse were also ordered to serve 10 years of post-release supervision.
