Covid-19 hospitalizations across the state of Virginia are declining, Virginia Department of Health report

RICHMOND, Virginia – COVID- According to data from the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association, 19 fewer people were hospitalized in the Commonwealth over the past week (VHHA).

The VHHA says that as of Friday, 577 hospitalized people were confirmed to have COVID-19. This is down from 657 (-80) last Friday.

On Friday, the average number of COVID-19 hospitalizations over the past week for VHHA was 617. This is less than last Friday’s total of 676. Last Friday, it was 769, and the week before, it was 899.

The VHHA also says that over the past week, nearly 750 more COVID-19 patients were released from Virginia hospitals.

As of Friday, the VHHA said that a total of 135,574 COVID-19 patients who had been hospitalized had been released. This is more than the 134,829 (+745) patients who had been released last Friday.

The data show how many COVID-19 samples were found in Virginia. Even though the data doesn’t give an exact number for how many COVID-19 patients got better, the discharge category shows how many of them were hospitalized and then let go.

The VHHA’s online data dashboard gives daily updates on how many COVID-19 hospitalizations are happening across the Commonwealth.
