Nearly $70,000 raised by the Lynchburg Fire Department for the “Fill the Boot” campaign

LYNCHBURG, Virginia – The Lynchburg Fire Department has been raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association with its “Fill the Boot” campaign for 20 years. In October 2022, when LFD raised $68,109 for the cause, nothing changed.

“Every dollar goes straight to the Muscular Dystrophy Association,” said LFD firefighter and paramedic Tarrah Osmulski.

On Monday afternoon, LFD gave the check to people from MDA. They set a goal of $60,000 for 2022 and can’t thank the people of Lynchburg enough for helping them reach this point.

“I’m really amazed by how kind and generous people are in the community. I mean, people gave $68,000 without being asked. And that’s amazing, totally amazing.”

The money will help the MDA keep working toward its goal of finding a cure and support the many programs it runs to help people affected by the disease.

LFD has already set a goal of $70,000 for the campaign in 2023.
