Juvenile sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound inside a Hampton home

HAMPTON, Va. — A shooting that took place in Hampton on Tuesday evening left a boy with a life-threatening injury.

Shortly after 6:30 in the evening, officers from the Hampton Police Division were sent to a residence located in the first block of Pickett Street.

The officers entered the residence and found a boy suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and was listed in critical but stable condition.

The initial investigation showed a fight had taken place moments before the boy was shot. The circumstances surrounding the shooting, as well as the motive, remain unclear.

The victim was said to be a juvenile, but information on the exact age was not released.

An investigation is ongoing.
