North American Aerospace Defense Command held military training flights

Beginning in the early morning hours, shortly after midnight, the North American Aerospace Defense Command conducted military training flights over the DC area.

A Coast Guard MH-65D Dolphin helicopter, an Army C12-V aircraft, and a Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182T general aviation aircraft were among the aircraft that took part in the flying exercise.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) regularly practices for a wide range of contingencies, such as breaches of airspace restrictions, hijackings, and responses to unknown aircraft. Each and every one of NORAD’s drills is planned in advance and carefully controlled.

The training flights are being carried out in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The military training flights ended at around 2:30 in the morning.
