Northwest Roanoke shooting suspect scheduled for trial

Roanoke, Virginia – A court appearance has been scheduled for the individual invovled in a fatal shooting incident that took place in Northwest Roanoke.

This deadly event unfolded on May 8 at The Cove at Peter’s Creek, resulting in the loss of one man’s life, as has been reported earlier.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Al-Sharreief M. Mahoney of Roanoke, was pinpointed through the course of the investigation. Investigators confirmed that they had procured a warrant for his arrest, subsequently initiating an immediate search. In the same month of May, Mahoney was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

As per the court records, Mahoney is now due to stand before a jury for a two-day trial commencing on October 19, 2023.

The charges that he is currently facing are of a grave nature: first-degree murder and the use of a firearm during the execution of a felony. It is noteworthy that Mahoney was initially charged with second-degree murder, a charge that has since been elevated.
