VDOT advises of potential delays amid ongoing roundabout project

Roanoke County, Virginia – Motorists are advised to anticipate potential delays at the junction of Starkey Road and Buck Mountain Road in Roanoke County this week, as per the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). This advice comes in light of the ongoing construction of a roundabout at this intersection, a project that commenced in the spring of 2023.

To manage the traffic flow at the intersection, flaggers have been deployed and will continue to operate around the clock, depending on weather conditions, until the evening of Friday, July 21, as VDOT reports. Construction crews will be occupied with grading work and the replacement of a specific section of pavement within the active work zone during this period.

To keep drivers informed of the altered work hours and the possibility of delays, message boards have been strategically positioned in the area.

It is currently anticipated that the construction of the roundabout will reach completion by the end of 2023.
