Police chase ends up with crashing car in James River, one man arrested

Lynchburg, Virginia – Early morning chase ended up with car crashing in the James River.
Police report that the chase started around 2:35 a.m. after traffic officer tried to pull over a car near Florida Avenue and Grace Street. Instead of stopping, the vehicle sped away and got on to US-29 into Amherst County where deputies took over the chase.
At one point of the chase, the man crashed the vehicle in James River at Riveredge Park in Amherst County. Right after the crash, the man got out of the car trying to run away swimming down the river.
Before he got arrested, he threatened to hurt himself with a knife.
Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident and the man was arrested without the use of force.
