Former Virginia resident who now lives in South Carolina wins over $200,000 dollars in state lottery

Cross Junction, Virginia – Although Norman Sullivan now calls Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, home, his deep ties to Virginia paid off in a big way earlier this month. The 58-year former resident of the Commonwealth is now celebrating a major lottery win.

Sullivan hit the jackpot in the June 6 drawing of Virginia Lottery’s Cash 5 with EZ Match, securing a $215,000 prize after matching all five winning numbers. He purchased the ticket at Cross Junction Liberty, a store located at 9181 North Frederick Pike in Cross Junction, Virginia.

The winning numbers for that day’s draw were “4-21-23-30-36.” Sullivan didn’t select the numbers himself. Instead, he opted for Easy Pick, which allowed the lottery terminal to randomly choose his numbers — and they turned out to be the perfect match.

Cash 5 with EZ Match offers a rolling jackpot that starts at a minimum of $200,000 and grows until someone wins. The odds of matching all five numbers are “1 in 1,221,759,” according to the Virginia Lottery.

Sullivan’s unexpected windfall is a reminder that distance doesn’t dull luck — and that sometimes, letting the machine choose might just pay off in a big way.
