New leadership at William Byrd High School as Evan Noell transitions from middle school to high school administration
Vinton, Virginia – The Roanoke County School Board has officially named Evan Noell as the next principal of William Byrd High School. Noell, currently serving as the principal of William Byrd Middle School, will step into his new role on July 1. His transition to high school leadership marks a significant milestone in his long-standing career with Roanoke County Public Schools.
Noell’s journey in education began in 2010 when he joined Roanoke County Public Schools as an instructional assistant at Green Valley Elementary School. The following year, he became a special education teacher at Northside Middle School, where he built a strong foundation in education. In 2014, he transitioned to Glenvar Middle School as a teacher before moving to Glenvar High School in 2017. His leadership abilities were recognized in 2019 when he was appointed assistant principal at W.E. Cundiff Elementary School. He later became the principal of William Byrd Middle School in 2023, where he has been instrumental in fostering academic success and student engagement.
Bringing Leadership and Experience to William Byrd High School
Superintendent Dr. Ken Nicely expressed his confidence in Noell’s ability to continue the school’s legacy of excellence.
“Evan has been a wonderful principal at WBMS, and I’m pleased he will bring his experience to William Byrd High School,” said Dr. Nicely. “He has a wealth of knowledge and expertise both in the classroom and in administration, and I’m confident he will continue the tradition of excellence at WBHS.”
As Noell prepares to take on this new leadership role, the school community anticipates his guidance in further enhancing the educational experience at William Byrd High School. With his strong background in teaching and administration, he is expected to make a positive impact on students, faculty, and staff.
