Virginia students encouraged to apply for the 2025 Governor’s Fellows Program offering firsthand government experience
Richmond, Virginia – Governor Glenn Youngkin has announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Governor’s Fellows Program. This program provides a unique opportunity for rising college seniors and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in state government by working alongside the Governor’s Cabinet and staff. Since its establishment in 1982, the program has offered young professionals valuable insights into the operations of the executive branch, preparing them for future careers in public service.
A Transformative Experience for Aspiring Leaders
Governor Youngkin expressed enthusiasm about welcoming the next generation of leaders into the program. “We are excited to welcome the next generation of leaders to kick off their careers with our administration,” he said. “The Governor’s Fellows Program is a unique opportunity for Virginia students to experience public service first-hand and gain essential work skills for their future.”
During the fellowship, participants will have the chance to engage with influential guest speakers from various sectors, including government and business. Additionally, they will embark on site visits to state agencies and historical landmarks that have played significant roles in shaping Virginia’s present and future.
Past fellows have shared their positive experiences with the program. Anjali Jarral, a 2024 Governor’s Fellow, reflected on her time in the program, stating, “The Virginia Governor’s Fellow Program was an incredible experience where I gained insights into my professional self, formed lasting friendships with inspiring individuals, and grew both personally and professionally. Eligibility and Application Process
The Governor’s Fellows Program is open to rising college seniors, graduating seniors, graduate students, and individuals with equivalent work or military experience. Students attending Virginia colleges and universities, as well as Virginia residents studying at out-of-state institutions, are encouraged to apply. The program welcomes applications from both public and private educational institutions.
Selection for the program is strictly merit-based and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status.
