Multiple ramp closures scheduled for next week as part of Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

Fairfax, Virginia – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced upcoming ramp closures as part of the ongoing Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. The closures will take place nightly from Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 6, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. These closures are necessary to complete finishing construction work in the area.

Motorists are advised to follow posted detours during the closures. Below is a list of the impacted ramps:

  1. Ramp from Route 29 North (Gainesville) to I-66 West
  2. Ramp from Route 29 South (Centreville) to Route 28 North
  3. Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
  4. Ramp from Braddock Road East and West to I-66 West
  5. Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North to I-66 East
  6. Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West

These closures are critical for the ongoing improvements to the highway infrastructure in the region, which aim to enhance safety, reduce congestion, and improve travel times.

Project Updates

The work schedule is subject to weather and may be adjusted if necessary. Drivers are encouraged to stay informed about construction and lane closure updates through the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project website or by following @VaDOTNOVA on X.

Motorists traveling through these areas are urged to exercise caution and allow extra time for their commutes during the scheduled ramp closures. These improvements are part of VDOT’s broader effort to deliver more efficient and safer roadways for Virginia residents and travelers.
