Chesapeake resident celebrates Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game win after matching four-digit combination
Chesapeake, Virginia – Patrick Murphy of Chesapeake experienced a huge stroke of luck when he matched all four winning numbers in the Virginia Lottery’s Pick 4 game—and he didn’t just win once, but 30 times. On September 19, Murphy had the winning combination on 30 separate tickets for the night drawing, leading to a total windfall of $136,200.
Murphy had purchased 24 of his tickets with an “exact order” wager, meaning the numbers had to appear in the exact sequence drawn. Each of these tickets netted him $5,000. Additionally, he bought six tickets with a “50/50” wager, each of which brought in $2,700. The winning four-digit combination that brought Murphy his incredible luck was 2-7-7-0. He bought his lucky tickets at the 7-Eleven located at 1928 Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake.
“I couldn’t believe it!” Murphy said, expressing his disbelief when he realized his big win. “I had to look over and over!”
While the thrill of such a win is undeniable, Murphy, a retiree, shared that he currently has no big plans for his winnings beyond taking care of some bills.
